About the Artist
Janelle Desrosiers
Janelle Desrosiers (she/they) is an AuDHD Michif (Red River Métis) and French-Canadian Two-Spirit mother, entrepreneur, designer, and artist.
On a journey of decolonization and divesting from sick systems, she explores the concepts of beauty, joy, Michif culture, queerness, neurodivergence, mental health, and motherhood through her work. Her art captures these themes in multiple styles, and is showcased through art prints, greeting cards, stationery, home goods, and more.
Janelle is descended from a long line of entrepreneurs, artists, farmers, hunters, leaders, and resisters who were born and settled in the historic Franco-Métis Manitoban communities of Richer, Ste. Anne, Ste. Genevieve, St. Norbert, St. Boniface, and Vermette. Her family names are Vermette, Tougas, Dugas, and Desrosiers.
She currently lives and works near Lake Winnipeg, close enough to hear the wind whipping up the waves.
